All Shall Be Well
On Good Friday I sat in the chancel behind the baptismal font. What caught my eye that morning was the aumbry. The doors, which are usually locked shut to protect the consecrated elements, were wide open. Like they had been flung open from the inside. The box itself was empty. Hauntingly empty. It became, for me, the empty tomb. And these words attributed to St. Julian of Norwich came to me:
All shall be well.
And all shall be well.
And all manner of thing shall be well.
The tomb is empty! Jesus Christ has risen! Because the tomb is empty. Because God the Father kept his promise to give Jesus, his only son, back his life after death. We can be assured that in the end all shall be well. Despite all the evil in the world. Despite sin and war and hatred. Despite pain and death. All shall be well. Because in the end the perfect will of God will prevail. Sin will be defeated. Love will be victorious. Death will not be the end for us. It will be the beginning.
The tomb is empty. Jesus has risen! All shall be well.
keep on keeping on …

CALLING ALL BABYSITTERS!!!
Summer is right around the corner, and what better reason to brush up on your skills! The American Red Cross offers a wonderful class specifically for babysitters, and I would love to be able to have a class here for our parish to take advantage of. The class will help your child gain the knowledge and skills to safely and responsibly care for infants and children. It covers basic childcare and first aid, pediatric CPR, as well as choking. Children younger than 11 are welcome. If you have children interested in this, please email Lauren Hargrove at parishnurse@cogsaugusta.org.
