Humans are so fickle.
Forgive the analogy, but take, for instance, college football coaches: When winning, we welcome them with a generous contract and go out of way to emphasize their qualities of character; but take away the winning, and there is absolutely nothing to redeem them.
On Palm Sunday, Jesus was welcomed to Jerusalem as the coming King. Days later the people that had followed him turned and condemned him for no reason.
